Shalom Teens
A program of activities at which the teenagers whose families are members of any North Fork congregation, or unaffiliated, can meet, socialize and learn. Take a look at the J Teen Summer Program Postcard.

Once again, the group boarded a train from the Ronkonkoma train station for a day of fun in the city. This years trip brought us to the 37 Arts Theatre for Jake Ehrenreich’s comedy musical, A Jew Grows in Brooklyn. Much like Billy Crystal’s 700 Sunday’s, Jake Ehrenreich’s show is poignant. With humor and brilliance A Jew Grows in Brooklyn tells the story of a boy who grew up under the watchful eyes of his neighbors in his neighborhood, or in the much beloved bungalow colony in the Carskills. This interactive show included questions to audience members including Shalom Teen Cassie Brown, who shared the experience of her dogs Bark Mitzvah. After the show Jake came out and spoke with the group; adding to the enjoyment of the day.
During May’s meeting, the group completed the beautiful butterflies that are being mailed to Israel so that they may be included amongst the million and a half butterflies being collected by activist, Ms. Sue Klau’s, for her project commemorating the million and a half Jewish children who were murdered in the holocaust. Shalom Teens enjoyed the movie Watermarks the story of the champion women swimmers of the legendary Jewish sports club, Hakoah Vienna founded in 1909, and to round off the evening the group enjoyed an authentic Israeli homemade meal of Falafel.
June’s meeting was unique and special. The group met at the Csorny’s home for a beach barbeque and overnighter followed by a trip to a Habitat Humanity home in Mastic, the group helped beautify the property by working on the landscaping.
